Baby Scans

Baby scans and tests

Carrying a baby in your womb is the greatest blessing you can have in your entire life. We all know that babies bring joy and laughter to every household that we know. Being a mother is life fulfilling especially when you have a supportive partner and a loving family who stays with you. Whether you’re a first time mom or not, you feel excitement every time you go on a pre natal check up, you may also feel a little nervous.

In as early as two weeks, you can find out if you are pregnant or not. You can examine yourself or go to a doctor to check. When you finally found out that you are carrying a wonderful creation inside your womb, that’s the time that you have to undergo series of baby scans and tests to check if the baby is in good condition.

Baby scans and tests are very important all throughout the pregnancy. If in case, you did not figure out immediately that you are pregnant, having baby scans and tests are not yet late. You can still go your doctor and ask him to have your baby be scanned and examined.

Normally, your antenatal check up has the longest procedure and between the 8th and the 12th week of your pregnancy, your doctor may offer you the opportunity to see your baby using the ultrasound scan. Seeing your baby for the first time sounds great, right?

Baby scans and tests are done through the ultrasound because it will allow you and your doctor to see the condition of the baby inside your womb. Ultrasound also allows you to see if you are to have a baby boy or a baby girl. Baby scans and test are very important to you as the mother and to your child. With the help of modern technologies, you can see if your baby is doing well or if your baby is not.

An ultrasound scan make use of high frequency sound waves, which bounce off solid objects thus providing you and your doctor a screen image of your closed organs and of course your uterus where your baby is. Included in the presentation are the baby’s organs and the placenta too. This is the reason why doctors can tell whether the baby is a boy or a girl. However, there are some instances which doctors gives inaccurate findings wherein they may tell your baby is a boy but after giving birth it turned out to be a baby girl.

Ultrasound scan is not always accurate and not one hundred percent reliable when trying to find out the baby’s gender. However, ultrasound scan is still the first modern technology used by many doctors not only in performing baby scans and tests but also in examining some diseases in the uterus among the women.

If external scan is to be used, you will be asked to drink plenty of water before you can undergo ultrasound. This is done in order to your bladder to push the uterus upwards and so that there will have a clearer picture or image of the baby inside your womb.
